Xbox Ambassador Spotlight #15 - Guatch

Gamertag: Guatch

Time as Xbox Ambassador: 2 years exactly.

Most Knowledgeable Genre(s): Anything Bioware or Star Wars, preferably both. I play a lot of Call of Duty online and pick up a fair bit of info from the guys there.

Time Zone and Time when online and on Forums on an average day? GMT (UK). I'm usually on LIVE in the evenings and as much as possible at the weekend. I visit the Forums on xbox.com daily and post there a fair bit.

What was the main reason you had for becoming an Xbox Ambassador?
The main reason was that when I first ventured into online gaming on LIVE I was a little worried about who I’d meet and how I would be greeted. I was 31 when I first tried online gaming so it's not just kids who feel a bit weary. I also want to make people think twice before launching into racist, homophobic and other abusive tirades by trying to chat to others and share a common interest within the game rather than finding or creating something to argue about.

What would you consider your 'specialty' area?
I'd have to say showing people around and answering newcomer’s questions. Those who know me know I’m a bit of a technophobe (I still struggle making links to other stuff). I'm not the best gamer, so I try to make the games I have with newcomers fun, that's what we all game for isn't it?

What would you consider is your greatest contribution to the Xbox Community?
I don't know, I don't contribute as much as some of the guys who organise the game nights and events. I do get involved in the ‘Game with Ambassador’ events both here in the UK and some of the US-based nights. I just try to help people out online, it’s usually "how the hell do I mute this guy?" on Call of Duty.

How do you best recommend that other gamers contact you should they ever require help in the future? Any. I use the forums daily so I can pick up all my messages there. If it's a voice message I check it out when I finish work and get home and turn my 360 on.

Some might argue that many gamers still don’t know about the existence of the Ambassador program and what its goal is. Do you agree and how would you like to see information about it be put out to the Community?
We should be featured on the Dashboard and the home page of Xbox.com as these are the first things newcomers see when they turn on their 360 or visit the Forums. A pop-up when you enter your location perhaps?. An Inside XBOX feature? I've been doing this for 2 years and I still get asked what an Ambassador is by UK-based gamers.

If you could provide any information on a specific genre or game, what would it be? A lot of the info I have on most games is commonly known. I can only offer things I try to use in my own gaming.

- Be nice to all members of your team on Bioware games, there's relations to be had and achievements.

- Try to talk to people online as if you've met them for the first time at school/college/work/pub.

- Don't glitch on Call of Duty you spoil the game for everyone just because you want more points.

- Don't sell your soul and play Avatar for the 1000GS like I did.

- Join the Forums at Xbox.com; it's full of answers and nice people.

- Get some foreign friends on LIVE as you never know when you need a free holiday, Mazda I’m looking at you.
