Xbox Ambassador Spotlight #11 - MartyTno1

Time as Xbox Ambassador: 13 months.
Most Knowledgeable Genre(s): Hmmm, probably racing games or FPS, but as my bio says, I'm not particularly good at either.
Time Zone and Time when Online and on Forums on an average day?
Time zone is GMT+1hour (I'm listed as a UK Ambassador but currently living in Europe and don't speak the National lingo of where I'm living at the moment.)
What was the main reason you had for becoming an Xbox Ambassador?
Just the love of Xbox 360 (avid PS2 fan prior to making the leap to 360) even though I did own an original Xbox, I was fairly new to Live and found the whole thing very confusing. Once I learned the ropes, I knew the ins and outs of Live and thought I'd be able to share what knowledge I had with the public.
What would you consider your 'specialty' area?
Probably the more seedy and dark side to Live such as phishing and the scamming avoidance, and more BASIC connection and general troubleshooting. I'm not too good on advising further, but I can normally pin-point a potential problem quickly.
What would you consider is your greatest contribution to the Xbox Community?
Hmm? Wouldn't class myself as the greatest contributor in any way really, I like to mingle online and get to know the people behind the Gamertags, so I suppose taking folks from the Forums and into games is my greatest contribution.
How do you best recommend that other gamers contact you should they ever require help in the future?
I check the Forums daily and if it's a detailed problem, send me as much information as you possibly can into a PM on the Forums. I prefer text messages via the console, as some people have the microphone too far rammed down their throat for me to hear correctly and I misunderstand what they want help with. I really do like Friend Requests with messages though and preferably Gold Subscriptions too.
Some might argue that many gamers still don’t know about the existence of the Ambassador program and what its goal is. Do you agree and how would you like to see information about it be put out to the Community?
Definitely agree. There's been a debate going on for a while in the UK Discussion and I was pleased to see head honcho Acey Bongos post saying that in the near future, our community page will be revamped and that suggestions (of which many were made about the ambassador program and its advertising) should be included soon. Also, more coverage on the console would be good too.
If you could provide any information on a specific genre or game, what would it be?
General rule for most games (especially FPS games) is learn the maps and don't get disheartened. It took me weeks to get used to the COD4 maps having only gotten started with the multiplayer earlier this year, and since I know MOST of the layouts properly by now, you learn the camp/snipe and hiding points throughout and can then use them to your advantage. Take your time learning and perfecting your skills before hitting the public, otherwise you will be ripped apart by the l33t players residing online.
