What was the main reason you had for becoming an Xbox Ambassador?
After checking the news on the web that MS was looking for Ambassadors on the Live community, I sent my application right away. Being a gamer for more than 25 years, I love to share my gaming experiences. Since I live in Puerto Rico, I’m fully bilingual, so I thought I will be able to help the Latin community. To my surprise, I received the acceptance to the program two weeks later. Not only that, but I was also the only Ambassador from Puerto Rico who was picked (strange since here video gaming is like a national pastime).
What would you consider your 'specialty' area?
Definitely tech issues! I’m a gamer but also a geek, always playing with tech. Always willing to help with issues such as connectivity. Send recommendations of accessories or show you how to take advantage of the 360 for other things besides games (e.g. How to take advantage of the Media Centre functionality). Also, I always try to get the new releases as soon as they get on the stores. Browse the games I have played, you can see, it is a lot!
What would you consider is your greatest contribution to the Xbox Community?
I’m always checking the news, trying to gather as much data as I can for upcoming games. If anyone wants a recommendation, I can gladly send a summary of what games can satisfy your taste. By being bilingual, I receive daily messages from the Latin community (which can send me their questions in Spanish).
How do you best recommend that other gamers contact you should they ever require help in the future?
Preferably Text messages, sometimes I turn on my Xbox and have dozens of messages. I always answer them all before anything else. With the upcoming feature of Twitter on the 360, anyone can send me their questions. Follow: CarlosLaPlaga.
What do you enjoy most about the experience you have had as an Ambassador?
Receiving a message with the words “Thank You” (or “Gracias”), especially from a person I just met on Live. Helping a friend, or someone thousands of miles away from home just feels great.
