Xbox Ambassador Spotlight #01 - Enfarine

Gamertag:Enfarine

Time as Xbox Ambassador: Since February 2008, so just over one year.

Most Knowledgeable Genre(s): FPS and Arcade games.

Time Zone and Time when Online and on Forums on an average day?

Eastern U.S. Time Zone.  I am on the forums intermittently throughout the day as breaks allow at work.  I also try to check the forums at least once each evening and periodically on weekends.  My online gaming time is usually after 7:00 p.m. during the work week and sporadically on weekends.

What was the main reason you had for becoming an Xbox Ambassador?

A few years ago, I was hesitant about jumping into matchmaking on Halo 2.  Thankfully, a couple of friends convinced me to try playing in a private match to get the hang of things.  After they walked me through a couple of maps, we jumped into matchmaking.  I ended up having a great time and soon became hooked.  I remember thinking, "What was my hang-up about this...?  I love playing online!"  A few years later, I read about applications being accepted to become an Ambassador.  I thought it would be a great way to help other gamers who may have that same initial hesitation about joining random matches on Live.

What would you consider your 'specialty' area?

Hrm, I don't know if you could call this a specialty per se, but I try to encourage others to join in different gaming events.  I've met some fabulous people over Live as a result of joining in on some gaming events.

What would you consider is your greatest contribution to the Xbox Community?

I try to help out on the forums as much as I can, and I also try to organize gaming events.  Speaking of, is anyone up for a Quake 4, Perfect Dark Zero, or Karaoke Revolution: American Idol event?

How do you best recommend that other gamers contact you should they ever require help in the future?

Probably PMs on the forums or text-based messages over Xbox LIVE.

What do you consider is the greatest misconception most gamers have towards the Xbox Ambassadors (Program)?

I think the single biggest misconception that people have about Ambassadors is that we earn special powers and privileges once we become an Ambassador.  People often believe that we get early access to games, that we get games for free, or that we can ban people from Live.

Any final words of wisdom to fellow gamers who are new to Xbox Live or those who wish to become Xbox Ambassadors in the future?

If you're new to LIVE, please don't hesitate to jump right in and play.  I think some people may hold certain misconceptions that hold them back from participating in online games, such as feeling like they're not familiar enough with a certain game to play against others.  Many games offer the ability to play with friends, so don't hesitate to set up a private match with your friends and give it a try.
